Seeing Zebras, Ostriches: Extreme Race Day at Canterbury Park
The Shakopee venue will also feature camel and horse racing.

For the first time at Canterbury Park, zebras will take to the racetrack. The seventh annual Extreme Race Day will also feature camel and ostrich racing.
The Minnesota State Lottery is presenting the event, which will take place on Saturday, July 20.
“The zebras can buck a little bit, but they run fast,” said Joe Hedrick in a news release from Canterbury Park. Hedrick is an animal trainer from Kansas, and he is bringing to the race four Grant’s zebras.
Horses will not be absent, however. There will be “unique horse races” of “unusual distances,” according to Canterbury Park.
Horses will race first, starting at 1:30 p.m. Gates open at 12 p.m. and some animals will be on display before the races.
Cost of admission is $5 for those who are 18 and older and $3 for those who have a Canterbury MVP Card. Admission is free for the 17 and under crowd.
More information is available on the Canterbury Park website or at 952-445-7223.
