Shakopee Celebrates Reading

The hosted its fifth annual "Shakopee Celebrates Reading" event Tuesday afternoon at .

High fives and music greeted the 700 first graders from Shakopee Public Schools and Shakopee Area Catholic Schools who attended the event to celebrate reading.

Entertainers sang and performed funny acts all designed to encourage the students to continue reading and use their imagination.

Afterward, the students each received a book from the Rotary and a bag.

Usually in attendance are Rotary members, a representative from the , school principals, teachers, the , the , the Cat in the Hat and Snoopy.
