Shakopee City Council Approves Tax Abatement for TryStar
TryStar will build a new headquarters and manufacturing facility in the Dean Lakes development.

The Shakopee City Council gave final approval of tax abatement financing Tuesday for TryStar to build a new headquarters and manufacturing facility in the Dean Lakes development.
Tax abatement helps bring businesses to Shakopee by reducing the taxes they will pay for a fixed amount of time, Shakopee Mayor Brad Tabke wrote in a blog post. This plan reduces the property taxes for 15 years by $1 million dollars between the county and the city to bring high-paying jobs and increase our tax base, he further wrote.
TryStar makes products that provide temporary power to job sites and special events such as movie sets and Super Bowls. They are leaving Faribault, MN, to build a $15 million, 175,000-square-foot plant in Shakopee.Â
