Shakopee Council Asked to Approve Negotiations with New Waste Contractor
The city's current waste-services contract is set to expire in May 2014.

Shakopee city staff will recommend that the city sign a five-year waste-services contract with a new firm, the Shakopee Valley News is reporting.
Staff will ask the city council to authorize negotiations with Allied Waste Services at the council's Tuesday meeting.
Dick’s Sanitation has been the city's waste contractor for the last 12 years, but its contract expires on May 31, 2014.

A five-person review committee examined the proposals of six waste-disposal companies this spring. Criteria included price schedules, experience and capacity, references, thoroughness and responsiveness to the request for proposals and overall environmental benefits, according to the paper.
