As Shakopee Grows, Allina Medical Clinic is Growing With it

Shakopee, Minn. 10/05/2011 - To meet patient demand, Allina Medical Clinic – Shakopee has added four new physicians and a nurse practitioner to its staff at 1601 St. Francis Ave., Shakopee.

"We are excited about the increased services and access to care our new providers will provide our community," said Andrea Anderson, manager of the Shakopee clinic. "As our area grows, we are growing with it so we can provide convenient care, often seeing patients on the same day that they call for an appointment. Women's health and chronic disease management, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and depression, are the focus of our new physicians."

Parvathi Theerthakarie, MD, is board certified in family medicine. She studied medicine at Obstetrics and Gynecology, Tamil Nadu Medical Council, India, and did her family medicine rotation at the University of Minnesota, Smiley Clinic. She decided to do a family medicine residency in the U.S. because it still allowed her to do obstetrics and women’s health and gave her the option to see a variety of patients.

Chitra Kanyadan, MD, specializes in bone density, lipid disorders, and preventive medicine.  Dr. Kanyadan did her internal medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic.

Anne Furuseth, MD, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She studied medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine, Omaha, Neb. and completed her residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, Peoria, Ill. Dr. Furuseth will partner with Dr. Evan Griffiths and will provide a full range of obstetrical and gynecological services for the community.

Eydie Edberg, is a certified women's health nurse practitioner(WHNP). She earned her nurse practitioner degree at Normandale College, Bloomington, Minn. Edberg is certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

Gabor Joo, MD, has special interest in helping patients who have high blood pressure and diabetes. Joo is board certified in Internal Medicine. He studied medicine at Semmelweis University of Medicine, Hungary and completed his residency at New York Medical College.
