The mother of the girl, who is 15, told that on Sept. 28, she was in a bathroom at Matter’s home when she heard a clicking sound and noticed a camera turned on in video mode. The camera was on a sink ledge amongst clutter with the lens pointed toward the shower. The girl said she played a portion of the tape and, after she saw video of herself undressing, deleted the video.

The girl and her mother had been staying at Matter’s home at the time. Shakopee police were told by the girl’s mother that the camera belonged to her but that Matter had asked to borrow it to download photos of the girl at a Homecoming dance.
The woman turned over the camera to police and contacted police again after she reported receiving a text message from Matter saying he wanted to talk to her and apologized if he had “crossed the line.” Police then gave the woman a recorder and, during a recorded conversation with Matter, he reportedly admitted to placing the camera in the bathroom and going back to see if it had recorded anything.
