Shakopee Mdewakanton Donates 2,800 Water Bottles to Tornado Victims

The bottles are being shipped from the tribe's bottling facility to Moore, Okla., today.

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community donated 2,880 one-liter bottles of purified drinking water on Wednesday toward the tornado relief efforts in Moore, Okla.

The water, produced at the tribe's bottling facility, were donated through a drive sponsored by 101.3 KDWB, Rainbow Foods and 101 Transport Inc.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted by this tragedy,” the tribe's chairman Charlie Vig said in a statement. “We saw the suffering from this event and wanted to do what we could to help.”

The bottles are being sent on a semitruck today to the victims of the Moore tornado.
