Open Houses Today: Shakopee Schools

The newly-finished Pearson 6th Grade Center is opening its doors to the public for the first time today with an open house for kids and parents from 11-7 p.m.

The Pearson Sixth Grade Center is opening its doors to the public for the first time today, Aug. 22, with an open house from 11-7 p.m.

An official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. with refreshments to follow. Students and parents can sign a guest book and posters, meet the staff and principal – former Sweeney Elementary Principal Dave Orlowsky – and tour the school, located at 917 Dakota St. S.

Shakopee West Junior High will also hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, at 200 10th Ave. E.

Shakopee East Junior High's open house will also run 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, at 1137 Marschall Road S.

At , an open house will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23.

Following is the supply list for Pearson sixth-graders:

Pearson Sixth Grade Center Supply List, 2012-13

General Supplies: for ALL classes

  • #2 pencils, Red pens, Blue or black pens, Kleenex (2 boxes), School bag/backpack, wide lined loose leaf paper, Glue stick (optional) 

Math: Red Folder (or slot of accordion file), Red notebook, Graph paper notebook, Black wide dry erase markers (2) - (low odor),

Language Arts: One spiral notebook, One PURPLE folder (for homework), 2 highlighters

Social Studies: Green folder (or one slot of accordion file), Green notebook, Colored pencils, Black felt tip pens (2), Index cards - 3x5 lined (optional)

Science: Blue folder (or one slot of accordion file), Composition notebooks (2), Roll of Scotch tape (optional)

Reading: One 1 ½ inch 3 ring binder with clear view cover, Two packs of loose leaf paper, One pack of 3 ring binder dividers (at least a set of 5), 2-3 packs of post its (3X3 inch)

Choir: Pencil, Loose leaf paper, Concert Attire: Black bottoms, White top, Black shoes

Art: Glue sticks (2), Markers, Colored pencils (not erasable) Folder (any color), Pencils (2), Fine tip permanent black markers (2)

Technology Education: 1 1/2" Three ring binder, Loose leaf paper, Pencil, Materials fee will apply

Phy Ed: Athletic shoes

**Please remember that back packs must fit in the lockers. Students are not allowed to bring back packs to class with them; they are a safety hazard.
