Updated with Photos: Shakopee Voters Elect New Mayor

Shakopee has a new mayor in Brad Tabke after Tuesday's election.

Shakopee has a new mayor. Challenger Brad Tabke unseated John Schmitt in a tight race Tuesday night, 2254 to 1889.

As results from the city's 12 precincts were tallied, each candidate took turns in the lead. With one precinct left to report, Tabke sat on top.

After waiting for results for about 20 minutes with family, friends and supporters at Turtle's Social Center downtown, Tabke all but declared himself the winner. The remaining Precinct 10 was in the Southbridge neighborhood, an area in which Tabke had campaigned vigorously.
