Shakopee Women Complete Sweltering Boston Marathon

It was so hot at this year's Boston Marathon that officials told runners they could defer their entry to next year.

On Monday, thousands of runners completed the 26.2 mile Boston Marathon, but nobody set a course record or had a personal best – and likely no one was expecting to as temperatures soared into the upper 80's.

Two women from Shakopee made the sweltering journey and finished:

Jenae Vieregge, 32, finished in 3 hours 58 minutes and 37 seconds. Her average per mile pace was 9 minutes 7 seconds.
