Shakopee Schools will soon be hiring for a position close to the top.
Jayne Gibson, Shakopee's director of teaching and learning, has accepted a position with the Rochester Public School District, where she will serve as the principal of Churchill/Hoover Elementary.
Gibson has been with the district for three years. According to a release from the district, Gibson said that her new job is closer to her family's home in Austin, which is almost two hours south of Shakopee.
In a parting e-mail to the district staff, Gibson said she "felt truly blessed" to be a part of Shakopee schools.
"I have been able to wake up every morning and come to a position that I love. It provides me challenge, opportunity and most of all I get to work with incredibly talented educators who are amazing individuals," Gibson wrote in an e-mail to the district staff. "This decision is one that is purely driven by my need to be closer to my family."
Her last day with the Shakopee District will be July 26. The district hopes to have a new hire for Gibson's position by the end of June.
