State Commerce Commissioner to Visit Jackson Elementary Tuesday
Rothman's visit will highlight the work of 87-year-old retired engineer Ed Barnett, who has volunteered for the past ten years teaching students the importance of saving money.

As Financial Literacy Month continues, Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman will visit Jackson Elementary School, 1601 Lusitano Street, in Shakopee at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, to emphasize the importance of volunteerism in schools, and sharing financial skills and knowledge with Minnesota youth, according to a Twin Cities website called Multicultural Life.
Rothman’s visit will highlight the work of 87-year-old retired engineer Ed Barnett, a senior citizen who has volunteered in Minnesota schools for the past ten years teaching students the importance of saving money. At the end of this school year, Ed – who was recently named Junior Achievement Volunteer of the Month – will have volunteered at four different schools interacting with students in over 30 classrooms, the post said.
