Street Seal Coating Begins June 5

Drivers take note: The City of Shakopee will begin seal coating on Wednesday.

The areas most affected are as follows:

  • The neighborhood just north of Jackson Township (near south Fuller Street)
  • In northwest Shakopee, significant portions of Spencer Street, Main, Dakota, 5th Avenue, Eastview Circle and Prairie.
  • In east Shakopee, a large chunk of 12th Avenue, Pike Lake Road, Foothill Trail and a few connected cul-de-sacs. All of Valley Park Drive.
In the 24-hours before work begins, temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted on affected streets. Drivers are advised not to park on the street on the day of seal coating. All vehicles parked on the street will be towed. Once work is complete, it is "best" to avoid parking on a newly-sealed street for at least 24 hours.

Street overlay will also begin in early June, affecting about 7.5 miles of city roadway. Click here to see a map of the streets receiving new bituminous.
