What's Open and Closed on Labor Day?

Many Shakopee folks will take a break this holiday weekend.

The  will be closed on Labor Day, Sept. 3, and there will be no mail delivery. Banks will be closed.

City government offices including , the , and the  will be closed.  in Shakopee will also be closed, as will the county's Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Jordan, which will be closed all weekend.

Emergency services providers will remain on duty.

All the closures may give you the time to attend one of the several events and activities happening in the area this weekend:

It's . The weekend will include restaurants, businesses and organizations representing Middle-Eastern and Asian cultures.

The Landing is holding a special celebration with the farmers and townsfolk of Eagle Creek. The weekend will include visits with "soldiers from the 5th Minnesota infantry" and "an 1860s 'base ball' match, according to a news release. Valleyfair is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.

 will hold the Festival of Champions on Sunday and live racing on Monday. Sunday also is "Pepsi Family Day, featuring pony rides, a petting zoo and face painting along with the Old Dutch Kids Race" at the track, according to a news release. Monday's races start at 1:30 p.m.

will continue all weekend at Buck Hill Ski Area in Burnsville. New, used, vintage, or handcrafted items for sale at this weekly marketplace.
