Where's the Money? Mapping Shakopee Incomes by Census Tract

Drive through Shakopee, and you will notice that some blocks are more affluent than others. But just how wide is the disparity between different parts of town?

Thanks to the efforts of the website, Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks, we have the answers to those questions. The site uses data compiled from the 2006-2010 American Community Survey to show median household income by census tract.

The data show that the median household income in Shakopee ranges from $42,820 to $89,641. According to the data, the census tracts below Highway 69, between O'Dowd Lake and Dean's Lake, are the richest, with a median household income of $89,641. East of downtown, the tracts between Eagle Creek Boulevard and the Minnesota River have a median household income of $81,984.

The tracts downtown are Shakopee's poorest: East of Holmes Street, the median household income is $42,820; west of Holmes, it's $48,750.

Minnesota as a whole has a median income range of $49,964 to $60,207.
