Brubaker Recognized as Athena Award Winner

Lydia Brubaker, a senior who competed on the soccer, track and field, and Nordic skiing teams, was recognized by the school board last week as an Athena Award winner.

The awards are presented annually to senior female students who display excellence in athletics and academics.

Over her high school career, Brubaker earned eight varsity letters in her three sports—track and field (four), soccer (three) and Nordic skiing (one).

Brubaker was a member of the Orioles’ North Suburban Conference championship 4 x 800-meter relay team for three consecutive seasons.

She was also voted captain in both track and soccer.

In the classroom, Brubaker earned a 4.0 GPA. She plans on attending Bethel University next year and will play soccer there.
