For the second consecutive year, the drama department has been awarded a SpotLight Award, sponsored by the Hennepin Theatre Trust. Over the course of the production run of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," this year’s senior high spring musical, the SpotLight Award group sent reviewers to watch and critique the show.
As a result, the show received both Outstanding Production and Outstanding Performance awards, meriting an invitation for those involved to perform a medley at the SpotLight Showcase on June 11.
Individual award winners may also perform. BSM students honored with individual awards include the following:

The SpotLight Showcase will begin at 7 p.m., June 11, at the Orpheum Theatre. This year a record 56 high schools from across Minnesota will take part. As the Hennepin Theatre Trust’s website notes, “SpotLight honors and supports Minnesota’s wealth of emerging talent and many alumni have gone on to star on Broadway stages.”
Last year, BSM’s drama department received a SpotLight Award for their production of "High School Musical."
