Blotter: Stolen Jewelry and a Fight Over Vomit

Editor's Note: The following incidents occurred between May 18 and May 23, and were included in the  most recent weekly report, sent out on June 7. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

May 18 - Police were called to a home in the 4700 block of Cedar Lake Road on a burglary. A 47-year-old male told officers he left the house for the day, and when he returned, he found every room and closet had been rifled through. Stolen was nearly $3,000 in jewelry. The point-of-entry appeared to be a pried open front door. No suspects have been identified.

May 19 - An employee at  reported that someone had broken in overnight and stolen several keys and tools. It appears access was gained through a loading dock shared by Panera and several other businesses. In addition to the theft, a piece of bread was left in the manager's office drawer. No suspects have been identified.

May 20 - Police were called to an apartment in the 4000 block of West 31st Street after a witness heard yelling and screaming. Officers met with a 35-year-old male, who said his friend was drunk and had vomited all over. The two then started fighting. Neither wanted to press charges, and the 35-year-old male told police he'd take care of his friend.

May 23 -  Officers were called to on a theft report. An employee said two truck safety gates, valued at $600 total, had been stolen. The gates had been up against the wall near a truck. No suspects have been identified.
