Burglaries, Death Threats, and Graffiti: SLP Police Blotter

Jan. 29

A couple living on the 1600 block of Hampshire Avenue returned home around 6:30 p.m. to discover nearly $9,000 in home goods—including several televisions and mink coats—were missing. The couple told St. Louis Park police the culprits seemed to seek out specific, partially hidden items, and so they might know who was responsible.

A woman living on 3500 block of Aquila Avenue called police at 3:40 a.m. to deal with her drunk roommate. The roommate, according to the caller, was being loud and would not leave her alone and go to bed. Police convinced the roommate to go to bed.

A 74-year old woman reported missing by her granddaughter at 7 a.m. showed up at home and in good health at 9 a.m. The older woman, a personal care assistant, had slept overnight on a client's couch because her son did not give her a ride home.

A juvenile reported her boyfriend—also a juvenile—was sending her obscene and harassing text messages. Police contact the boyfriend and advised him to cut it out.

Jan. 30

Burglars broke into a rented home on the 2700 block of Toledo Avenue and stole $3,300 in home electronics, including a 40-inch television. The victims gave some information about who they thought might be responsible.

A CenturyLink employee called police to report a BMW driver had threatened to kill him for parking his truck in the alleyway behind the 2700 block of Hampshire Avenue at 1:30 p.m. while performing repairs. 

Jan. 31

A resident of the 2700 block of Louisiana Court called police to complain his downstairs neighbor was banging on the ceiling. The neighbors have had disputes in the past, the police report said.

Feb. 1

An apartment-dweller on the 8200 block of West 31st Street was charged with third-degree arson for lighting a paper bag on fire outside his neighbor's door as a warning to quiet down. The criminal complaint makes no mention of any accompanying passive-aggressive notes.

Just before midnight, a Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill patron was arrested for fourth-degree assault of a police officer. The case has been referred to the St. Louis Park city attorney for charges.

Feb. 4

A car heading southbound on the 3800 block of France Ave at 8:15 a.m. pulled onto the shoulder to avoid another car in front of it, which had stopped short. A third car had been following the first car too closely, skidded on ice when it, too, tried to stop suddenly, and rear-ended the first car.

Police were called to a rental house on the 3000 block of Rhode Island Ave to mediate a dispute between a man who accused his roommate of keying his car's doors and the roommate, who accused the car's owner of framing him. According to the police report, no charges are being sought in the case.

A resident of the 2300 block of Flag Ave found a perfectly circular, 16-inch wide hole in the outer pane of one of her house's rear windows. The police report suggests a golf ball is responsible.

Feb. 6

A 74-year old woman was found dead of natural causes in her home on the 6900 block of West 26th Street.

A 21-year old St. Louis Park man was charged with attacking his live-in girlfriend with a knife.

Feb. 7

Police spotted graffiti on a utility box on the corner of West 36th Street and Park Center Boulevard.

Around 10 p.m., a juvenile was pulled over near the intersection of West 28th Street and Louisiana Ave and cited for reckless driving.
