For more than 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration has celebrated National Small Business Week, recognizing the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.

More than half of Americans either own or work for a small businesses, and they create nearly two out of three new jobs in the U.S. each year. St. Louis Park is home to more than 2,000 small businesses, defined as an independent business with fewer than 500 employees.

This past year has been like no other, as small businesses have navigated the COVID-19 pandemic while supporting their employees and communities. According to Fundera, small businesses generate $68 of local economic return for every $100 spent with them. During this week of celebrating small businesses, be sure to support your own favorite establishment and spread the word about the benefits of “shopping small!”
