Dear Gov. Walz,
You have the deep gratitude of our cities for your commitment to propose to the legislature, as part of your budget, nearly $500 million over three years, to be spent on community safety and support. Thank you for hearing and embracing the concerns and ideas of mayors, police chiefs, city managers, and community advocates across the State of Minnesota as we work to keep our neighborhoods vibrant places in which to live, work, and play.

We are particularly pleased with your proposal to provide $300 million, over the next three years, in direct and flexible funding to cities, counties, and tribal nations across Minnesota. Investing in community-based solutions to public safety which allows local leaders to reflect the unique needs of their communities, is both innovative and practical.
We look forward to working with all levels of government and law enforcement on this concerted effort around crime reduction and its underlying causes, especially amongst our youth.
This letter affirms our ongoing commitment, to achieve together, safe and secure neighborhoods in every city and town.
Signed,
Mayor Tim Busse, Bloomington
Mayor Ron Case, Eden Prairie
Mayor Jim Hovland, Edina
Mayor Brad Wiersum, Minnetonka
Mayor Jeffrey Wosje, Plymouth
Mayor Jacob Frey, Minneapolis
Mayor Jake Spano, St. Louis Park
