City's Annual Fall Clean-Up Day this Saturday

SLP residents can dispose of a variety of items from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.

St. Louis Park is holding its annual fall cleanup day this Saturday, Sept. 28.

From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., residents can come to the Municipal Service Center, at 7305 Oxford Street, and dispose of scrap metal, bicycles, appliances and mattresses for free or for a small fee.

Here's the city's list of what's accepted:

For a fee:

  • Bulky items for disposal (e.g. furniture, toys, remodeling supplies, equipment).
  • Appliances and electronics.
  • Tires will be collected for shredding and reuse.
  • Mattresses and box springs can be brought to the event for recycling for a fee of $15 each, regardless of size.

For no charge:

  • Bicycles in any condition
  • Gently used items for donation to the Vietnam Vets.  The Vets have created a list of acceptable and non-acceptable items.
  • Textile recycling - bring torn and worn clothes, shoes (pairs only), linens, towels, fabric scraps and rags for free recycling. Clean and dry only please.
  • Scrap metal recycling – bring in old grills, steel shelving, bed frames, etc. Lawn mowers and snow blowers must be drained of all fluids.
  • Paper shredding - bring in your papers for free shredding. Limit of 3 grocery-sized bags per vehicle. Shredded paper will be recycled.
  • New this Fall: Fluorescent bulb recycling! Bring in your expired, unbroken fluorescent bulbs (including compact fluorescent lights, U-tube and circline fluorescent tubes, bug zappers, black lights, germicidal bulbs, high output bulbs, and cold-cathode fluorescent bulbs) for proper disposal.

Not accepted:
Tree debris, yard waste, garbage, recyclables, concrete and hazardous waste will not be accepted.
