SLP Engineering Director Mike Rardin Retires After 18 Years

After almost two decades as director of the St. Louis Park engineering department, Mike Rardin is retiring.

The city council held a retirement ceremony for Rardin during its Monday meeting.

"Mike inherited a department that, needless to say, needed a lot of help, and he really dug in and transformed the department and the way we do our business here in St. Louis Park," said city manager Tom Harmening.

Rardin started at the department in 1995.

"I really got to be involved in a lot of significant projects," he said during the ceremony. We did "the first sidewalk/trail plan, implemented a stormwater utility, and we did floodwater mitigation projects, put asset management into place and did data management."
