A lecture Thursday at Groves Academy looks to show how the historical forces that shaped the English language can help students learn to improve their spelling.

Henry, a former president of the International Dyslexia Association, will provide a formal structure for the English spelling system that can help recognize, understand and spell words.

The lecture is open to the public and targeted toward teachers and parents. It runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Groves Academy, 3200 Highway 100, and costs $30.
