St. Louis Park Resident is a Blue Ribbon Baker

Sharon Decker won first and third place with her honey-sweetened bread.

After a 32-year break from baking, Sharon Decker returned with a bang in 2011.

The St. Louis Park resident won first place for her honey sweetened, less-than-75-percent whole wheat bread, and third place for her honey sweetened, more-than-75-percent whole wheat bread. The breads were entered in the Bee and Honey competition.

It was Decker's first time competing at the fair since 1978.

"I thought about doing it every year, but somehow never got around to it," she said.

This year, she almost didn't get around to it again, but she did some earlier in the week to nab her blue ribbon.
