St. Louis Park Supervalu to Close

in St. Louis Park will be closing by the end of September, the store manager said Monday.

Manager Mark Ditter said the grocery store has been “losing money every week” since opened at the nearby shopping area about two years ago.

“We were doing OK until that opened,” Ditter said.

Supervalu, which has been in its current location at the intersection of Lousiana Avenue and Cedar Lake Road since 1997, employs 25 people, Ditter said. The manager said the store will work to get some of them jobs with another Almsted’s Supervalu in Crystal and get other employees jobs with other grocery stores in the area.
