Albertville OK's New Gas Station, Taco John's

The fast food/fuel station complex is expected to be open by the spring of 2014.

A new fast food chain will be arriving in the Albertville area next spring thanks to action taken by the Albertville City Council at its final October meeting.

The council unanimously approved a remodel and revamp of the former Sunoco site, which closed in late 2012.

The conditional use permit for the property calls for a gas station, car wash, auto repair shop and fast food restaurant in the site. The car wash and auto repair shop are already built into the building, though the wash shut down last winter.

Kwik Trip was rumored to have an agreement to build its second St. Michael-Albertville site in the spot, but those talks feel through. Instead, developer Red Rooster will close on the property, Albertville City Manager Adam Nafstad told the Crow River News.

"There will be slight provisions to create drive through lanes," Nafstad said at the meeting.

There is no timetable on paper for the remodel, Nafstad added, but the site should see changes prior to a spring opening in 2014.
