Busy Stretch Begins for St. Michael-Albertville Women of Today
Two huge events kick off in the next week, beginning with tomorrow's Turkey Bingo at Albertville City Hall, and capped by the ever-popular Fall Craft Show.
The St. Michael-Albertville Women of Today kick off a busy stretch tomorrow with their Turkey Bingo Event, set to run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Albertville City Hall.Β
Next weekend, the street will be lined with cars in front of the St. Michael-Albertville Middle School West building, as hundreds of patrons get their holiday shopping started (or finished) at the Fall Craft Show, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. Setup is Friday night.Β
"It's a wonderful organization," said treasurer Laurie Daniels. "We have 52 members right now, and they really come from all walks of life."

Past President Peggy Kaufman said the group works hard to get involved in everything from community events to aiding local schools and students. The club's motto includes an emphasis on "Service, Growth and Friendship," she said.Β
"It's a great mix of people and we're doing some great things."

Lynn VanDenBroeke, who recently sold and retired from her job at Goin' Postal, has also gotten involved in the organization, and said the events the STMA WoT hosts are a great way of keeping the community active.Β
There two craft shows (the fall show being the biggest), the PDC Olympics (which has been covered by Patch and participation in both community festivalsβSt. Michael Daze and Knights and the big one, Albertville Friendly City Days.Β
They've also joined forces with the two middle schools for the new "Girl Power" program, and have done "Donuts for Grads" for years.Β
"There are so many ways to give back," VanDenBroeke said.Β
If you're interested in joining, attend either of the two upcoming events and talk to a Women of Today member. They're always looking to add to their crew.Β
"We laugh a lot, and have a lot of fun," Kaufman said. "But we get a lot of good things done, too."Β
