UPDATE: Elk River Teen Missing for Two Weeks Found Safe

A 16-year-old Elk River girl has been missing since early this month has now been located.

UPDATE (4:15 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28) - Multiple media sites, including KSTP.com, are reporting Johanna Thomsen has been located after a search conducted by her family and authorities in the northwest suburbs.Β 

It's believed the girl ran away with someone she had met on the Internet, KSTP reported.Β 

Elk River Police released a bulletin Thrusday stating the girl had been found. It did not elaborate on if any charges would be filed in the case.Β

Elk River Police are asking for the public's help in locating a 16-year-old girl that has been missing for more than two weeks.Β

According to KMSP and other news outlets, Johanna Thomsen, who also responds to JoJo, J and Jo, left her parents home the night of Feb. 11.

The family believes they have received electronic messages from the girl, but her whereabouts aren't known. She was last seen in Plymouth around the area of 36th Avenue North and Highway 169 in the afternoon hours of Feb. 12.

A Facebook site has been set up by the family of Johanna Thomsen, asking for any information about the 16-year-old's whereabouts.
