Fire Badly Damages St. Michael Preserve Home

The Friday morning fire started on a back porch of the home, located on 45th Court Northeast in St. Michael. No one was hurt.

A St. Michael family is emotionally drained, but unharmed after an early morning fire damaged much of their 45th Street Court home in The Preserve development.

Wright County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the call around 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30. St. Michael Fire sent three crews to the home at 14056 45th Court, and called for mutual aid. The fire badly damaged the rear, or west side of the structure. Fire damage leveled the roof and attic area.

The homeowner, who asked to be named as Chris (but did not give his last name) said he, his wife and daughter were able to get out of the home O.K. He said he believed a gas grill located on the back porch, attached to the second level, could be the culprit.

"We'll be O.K.," he said.

Family and friends, with the assistance of St. Michael firefighters, were removing and cleaning smoke and water-damaged items from the upper level of the home.

Two fire crews left the scene around 8:30 a.m. One remained to assist with investigation and mop-up.
