Fly Fishing and Fishing Camp in the Three Rivers Park District

Fly Fishing Basics for Women

Get the tools to master fishing techniques from instructors. Learn beginning casting techniques and how to choose proper flies. 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 16 at Silverwood Park in St. Anthony and Bryant Lake Regional Park in Eden Prairie. Free. Restricted to participants age 10 and older. Sponsored by Take Me Fishing. Reservations required.Β

Fly Fishing Basics

Learn beginning casting techniques and how to choose proper flies. 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 20 at Lake Minnetonka Regional Park in Minnetrista and Coon Rapids Regional Dam in Brooklyn Park. Free. Sponsored by Take Me Fishing. Reservations required. Restricted to participants age 10 and older.Β

Fishing Camp

Learn about fishing equipment and how to handle a pole and fish safely. Identify Minnesota fish and learn about their life cycle and habitat. Make a fishing lure and learn the Japanese art of gyotaku. Play games and more.Β  9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 10-13 at French Regional Park in Plymouth, Lake Minnetonka Regional Park in Minnetrista and Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington. Cost is $198. Open to children ages 5-8. Registration required.

Extreme Fishing Camp

Travel around the Park District fishing for largemouth bass, pan fish, carp, and northern pike. Campers will learn new fishing strategies, fish from shore and a boat, create bait, and test out new equipment, all taught by professionals in the fishing industry. All equipment is provided. Camp is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 17-21 at French Regional Park in Plymouth and Lake Minnetonka Regional Park in Minnetrista. Cost is $295 and open youth ages 9-13. Registration required.
