Hundreds Flock to Big Woods Friday for Annual PTO Carnival

This year's celebration had old favorites like the pop bottle ring toss, but also featured some new games for the new faces at the school.

St. Michael-Albertville School District parents and students continued to support their school in record numbers, as the Big Woods Elementary School PTO Carnival, one of the first "rites" of the school year for elementary-aged kids, brought hundreds of families to the school Friday night.Β

On the heels of large crowds at everything from the coronation and pep fest to the Homecoming football game last week, Friday's participation was huge for Big Woods, both staff and parents said.Β

"It looks like it'll be a really good night," said one volunteer.Β

Principal Lee Brown was on hand to welcome visitors, but acknowledged there'd be "no way" to get to everybody. Big Woods "grads," now volunteering as W.E.B. (where everyone belongs) leaders from the two middle schools in the community, said it was the biggest crowd they'd seen.Β

Events included the popular Pop Toss (ring toss), a new photo "booth" and inflatables.Β
