Morning Bus Accident in Albertville Sends Man to Hospital

An Albertville man was treated at North Memorial Medical Center for minor injuries after he was struck by a bus near Coborn's in Friday morning.

A scary incident ended with positive results after an Albertville man was hit by a bus trying to cross Wright County 19 (LaBeaux Avenue) in Albertville early Friday morning.

According to the Wright County Sheriff's Office, dispatchers received a report of a school bus pedestrian accident at 57th Street and County Road 19 in Albertville around 7 a.m. Friday.

The pedestrian, Rodney Emerson, 65, of Albertville was eastbound in the crosswalk, crossing Wright County Road 19, when he was struck by a school bus that was westbound on 57th street NE turning to go southbound on Wright County Road 19.

Emerson was transported to North Memorial Medical Center for minor injuries.

The bus was not transporting any children at the time.

"The driver had just started his morning route, so there weren't any kids aboard at the time," said Dr. Jim Behle, superintendent of . "While we're concerned for the pedestrian, we're thankful no kids were on the bus or injuries to the driver, as well."

Behle said the district is reviewing the accident. An e-mail was sent to all school district parents with a brief about the accident.

The incident remains under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
