Obituary: Sister Lucille Hackenmueller, Formerly of St. Michael
Much of her life's work was accomplished abroad, as she travelled to Ireland to serve at the Divine Word Seminary in Maynooth, Ireland and to various sites in England.

Sister Lucille Hackenmueller (Verena), age 87, passed away April 17 at the Convent of the Holy Spirit in Northfield, Ill.Β
She is survived by two sisters, Sr. Mary Agnes Hackenmueller of Sauk Rapids, Minn., and Irmina Holthaus of Buffalo, Minn. and a brother, Joseph (Joann) Hackenmueller of Plymouth, Minn., as well as dozens of nieces and nephews.Β Sister Lucille was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy (Elmer) Beaudry and brother, Bernard (Rose) Hackenmueller, as well as her mother, Katherine and father, Vincent Hackenmueller.
Originally from St. Michael, Minn., Sister Lucille entered the Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters congregation in 1943 and served in a variety of ministries at hospitals in Wis., Iowa and Ill.Β Much of her lifeβs work was accomplished abroad, as she travelled to Ireland to serve at the Divine Word Seminary in Maynooth, Ireland and to various sites in England.Β Sister Lucille returned to the U.S. in 1995 and continued her hospital ministry at Ravenswood and Illinois Masonic Hospitals in Chicago, where she assisted in social service and pastoral capacities.Β This year marks Sister Lucilleβs 67th of religious profession.
