PHOTOS: Birds of Prey Descend on Albertville Primary Kids

The University of Minnesota Raptor Center made its annual appearance at the Albertville Primary School Wednesday, and didn't disappoint.

It's hard to be quiet when you're staring, face-to-face, with a bald eagle.

But a host of well-behaved St. Michael-Albertville kindergarteners were able to contain themselves long enough to enjoy that experience, as well as a visit from a great-horned owl, screech owl and a perigrine falcon.

Mike Billinger of the Raptor Center walked the young 5 and 6-year-olds through each raptor's special features, from the eagle's amazing eyes to the great horned owl's soft, quiet feathers.

"Each of these birds have something special, something different about them," he told the students. "But what makes them raptors? They hunt with their ... feet!"

In all, Billinger made four presentations.

"It's the only one we have back every year because it's so good," said principal Ann Marie Foucault.
