SOAR Academy Premieres with 'Jungle Book'
The SOAR Arts Regional Program, fresh off its successful first-ever show last summer, is premiering its new children's academy with a presentation of Disney's "The Jungle Book."
Every community needs its "Bare Necessities." An introduction of children to the arts, a St. Michael-Albertville group, should be one of them.
SOAR Arts Regional Program has developed SOAR Academy, a theater program for kids that keeps young actors, actresses and stage production crew involved from the moment they enter the theater.Β
With SOAR Academyβs first production, "The Jungle Book Kids," STMA residents can join Mowgli, Baloo, King Louie and the gang as they swing their way through madcap adventures and thwart the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan.

SOAR Academy, according to public outreach coordinator Debbie Bishop, strives to exceed the regular theater experience by having children engage in βBeyond the Stage Sessionsβ. No more sitting around and waiting to go on stage. The sessions are led by qualified individuals and offer a wide variety of educational enrichment in addition to regular rehearsals. Β Skills that are gained through SOAR Academy.Β
The children's program comes on the heels of a successful summer program and showing of "Willy Wonka: The Musical," which unveiled SOAR to the community in late July.
βWe want to provide a quality [arts] experience for everyone," said St. Michael dad, Terrell Beaudry, SOAR Board President. "Those involved in the production and audience members alike should enjoy it.β
