St. Michael Kwik Trip Opens on O'Day Avenue

The huge commercial project will anchor the commercial portion of the Hans Hagen Development, and gives a much-needed spark to the I-94 and Highway 241 corner.

For the past few months, the news coming from the business corridor near St. Michael's intersection with Interstate 94 at Highway 241 (Central Avenue) has been frustrating.

Talks to reboot the Cinemagic Theater have fizzled. Tough turf conditions and water levels hampered Fox Hollow early in the season.Β

But the fall has been a sort of "spring awakening" for the area.

First, the Minnesota Department of Transporation has installed much-needed traffic signals at the eastbound exit ramp, where 94 feeds to 241.

Now, Kwik Trip has opened to public, unveiling its $3 million store, which includes a full car wash, diesel service and an expansive convenience store.

"It's pretty nice," said one person fueling up Thursday, Sept. 29, who asked not to be named.

Store staff were impressed with public turnout. "They even braved the wind" one clerk said.

Indeed, the store's new awnings were getting an early test with Thursday's 35 to 40 mph gusts.

The store will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12. There will be specials posted throughout the two weeks leading up to that event, including free coffee, fuel discounts and much more.
