Thin Ice Prompts Call to Rescue Team in St. Michael Area

One call the stood out among the others placed to Wright County deputies and crews stands out a bit this week. 

Though nothing was found, a call was placed to Wright County Dispatch for a rescue on Schmidt Lake. 

It's a reminder to everyone that, despite some cold temps, the recent warmup has made ice pretty treacherous. With colder temps on the way after Christmas, the public is asked to just wait a few days before venturing out on Wright County lakes. 

The following are calls placed to Wright County and St. Michalel Fire over the last week. 

December 6

Kaydee Lee Wood, 31, Otsego, was charged with felony terroristic threats.

December 8

The St. Michael Fire Department responded to a medical call in the 600^th block of Jamie Circle SW.  There was a 65 year male having chest pains.

The SMFD responded to a medical call in the 11000^th block of Frankfort Parkway NE.  A male party was unresponsive.

The SMFD was dispatched to a vehicle fire at the intersection of Highway 241 and County Road 19.  They were cancelled en-route.

December 10

Jacob Charles Ekern, 24, Otsego, was arrested in Otsego for 2nd degree assault.

December 11

The SMFD responded to a fire call in the 20^th block of Central Avenue E.  There was a vehicle on fire.

Wayne Thomas Winkelman, 59, St Michael, was arrested in St Michael for 3rd degree DWI.

December 12

The SMFD responded to a fire alarm call in the 200^th block of Circle Lane SW.  It was a false alarm.

The department responded to a medical call in the 300^th block of Hillcrest Drive NE.  A 70-year-old was feeling weak and dizzy.

The SMFD responded to a possible ice rescue on the south side of Schmidt Lake located off of 10^th Street NE.  Nothing was found upon arrival.

 Wright County Deputies reported19 Property Damage Accidents, six personal injury accidents, eight hit-and-run accidents and five car vs. deer accidents.

There were five arrests for DWI, three underage consumption arrests, one school bus stop arm violation, and 141 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations issued this week.
