FICO Holds Free Virtual Financial Education Event for Jackson, MS

On Wednesday, December 9, FICO, the leading credit scoring company, will host "Score A Better Future" for Jackson, MS residents from 12:00-1

“Score A Better Future,” the national event series led by FICO, the leading credit scoring company, is coming to Jackson, MS in an interactive conference format on Wednesday, December 9 from 12:00-1:15pm CST.

The event series focuses on helping consumers improve their understanding of their credit and overall financial health. Consumers will learn from credit experts what the key ingredients are that make up the FICO® Score, and the myths and facts about FICO Scores, which are used in more than 90 percent of lending decisions (Mercator Advisory Group Analyst Report 2018). Whether you are new to credit, preparing to purchase a home, planning your retirement, or concerned about protecting your financial health from the impact of the COVID virus, knowledge is power. You will learn firsthand from FICO experts what are the key ingredients in the FICO® Score, common characteristics of consumers that are FICO® Score high-achievers and get your questions answered. This free interactive session led by FICO will also cover the myths and facts about FICO® Scores and how to build and protect your credit. Score A Better Future events are completely free. The event will also host guest speaker, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson, the longest-serving African-American elected official in the State of Mississippi. Serving his 13th term in the United States House of Representatives, Thompson represents Mississippi’s Second Congressional District. The Congressman found his way to the House of Representatives by way of his hometown of Bolton, MS, where he was an alderman from 1969 to 1972. He was also the city’s mayor from 1973 to 1980 before becoming Hinds County supervisor for thirteen years. Congressman Thompson was elected to Congress in 1993 and has served on the Agriculture, Budget and Small Business Committees. He currently serves as the Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Additionally, FICO has partnered with Operation HOPE to provide attendees with the opportunity to make appointments for free one-on-one credit coaching from non-profit financial well-being coaches to help attendees develop a plan to address their financial goals.
