Here are the top three stories in Jackson today:
- Jackson police recently arrested two suspects in connection to two separate murder cases. On Jun. 7, 19-year-old Isaiah McCray was arrested and charged with murder for the May 21 homicide near Wabash Street. On Jun. 9, 17-year-old Elijah Ervin was arrested and charged with murder for a homicide that occurred in the 900 block of Flag Chapel Road. (WJTV)
- Jackson has yet again become the center of the ballet world with the International Ballet Competition at Thalia Mara Hall. Performances started on Monday, Jun. 12, and will continue until the Friday, Jun. 23, award ceremony. (MPBOnline)
- On Jun. 9, Jackson Police arrested 29-year-old Nicholas Branson in connection to a Feb. 21 assault in the 5300 block of Queen Mary Lane. Branson was charged with felony aggravated assault and one traffic-related count. He is currently held at the Raymond Detention Center. Anyone with relevant information about the incident is asked to call police at 601-355-8477. (WLBT)

- On Sunday, Jun. 11, Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson held a 60th-anniversary memorial service to honor Medgar Evers, 60 years after his death. Evers was the NAACP Field Secretary and was tragically assassinated on Jun. 12, 1963 outside his Jackson home. Both Congressman Bennie Thompson and Myrlie Evers-Williams spoke at the service.
