Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:

  1. On Tuesday morning, The City of Jackson experienced pressure issues related to an existing line break in some system parts. The water line break has worsened in the area near Fortification Street, Casper Avenue, Bailey Avenue, and Maple Street. Officials believe there is a new leak that has yet to be discovered, but they are working tirelessly to isolate the leak. (WJTV)
  2. To help with Jackson's aging infrastructure, the city received $115 million in federal funding for repairs and water system improvements. JXN Water has already drawn $15 million to stabilize the system and make improvements toward clean drinking water. Officials believe that the funding will help the city but will take much more to fix all of the issues that have accumulated over the past 50 years. (WAPT Jackson)
  3. Jackson is taking heavy precautions during the USA International Ballet Competition, with the city's police department, Capitol Police, and the Hind's County Sheriff's Department patrolling the area. According to Capitol Police, there is a "zero-tolerance approach" to criminal activity in this area. There is heightened security downtown, branching out to Millsaps and Belhaven. (WAPT Jackson)
