Here are the top three stories in Jackson today:
- Officials say minor flooding from the Barnett Reservoir may begin to impact some Jackson homes and businesses this week. The discharge from the reservoir is expected to peak this Saturday, Jun. 24. As of Wednesday, Jun. 21, the lake stood nearly 300 feet above mean sea level and was discharging water at a rate of 28,000 cubic feet per second. (WJTV)
- Cooling stations throughout Jackson have offered relief to residents still without power due to the recent wave of storms. The stations are open during limited hours and provide meals and necessities for citizens in need. The Red Cross was also stationed at the Word and Worship Center to provide 24-hour shelter for those needing additional help. (WLBT)
- The second phase of construction has begun on the Museum Trail in Jackson. The trail connects the Lefleur Museum District to Belhaven and Downtown Jackson and is meant to offer residents a safer way to get around the community. It is considered the first trail of its kind in Jackson. (WLBT)
