Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:
- There have been two water main breaks in two days on Woodrow Wilson Avenue. The first break occurred on the Fourth of July, and water crews were able to make repairs. On Wednesday morning, a second break near the Regions Bank caused flooding in the road. Kenneth Stokes, the Ward 3 city councilman, said that he will be discussing the city's sewer and water issues at a meeting today at Cornerstone Baptist Church. (WAPT)
- Jackson's Interim Police Chief Joseph Wade spoke to WJTV 12 News about his plans to reduce crime in the city. Wade discussed the importance of the city's police officers being a part of the larger community. He also encouraged young people in the city to get involved in local activities for a positive outlet. The Jackson Police Department will be hosting another session of the Youth Citizen’s Police Academy beginning on Monday, Jul. 10. (WJTV)
- One of the three teenagers that escaped from Henley-Young-Patton Juvenile Justice Center last week has been captured. Sixteen-year-old Robert Earl Smith Jr. was taken into custody on Monday night in Yazoo City where he was discovered at a relative's home. Hinds County Administrator Kenny Wayne Jones believes the teens were able to escape due to a breach in protocol. Officials are still searching for 17-year-old Tayshon Holmes and 15-year-old Jashon Jones. (WAPT)

- The Mississippi Children's Museum has some great events to finish out the week! The Mindful Mornings program is happening today at 11:00 a.m., and Rocky's Book Club is taking place this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Fun Friday starts tomorrow at 3:30 p.m., and on Saturday, you can check out the Science of Bubbles at 2:00 p.m. (Mississippi Children's Museum via Facebook)
