Here are the top three stories today in and around Jackson:

  1. People in nearby Ridgeland reported a lack of water pressure the morning of Sunday, May 28, leading to repairs by the local water department. Per Ridgeland Police Chief Bryan Myers, as of Sunday morning, the water department was working to locate a broken pipe somewhere near Lincolnshire. Myers said, "This issue is causing low pressure in the area near Lincolnshire." (WAPT Jackson)
  2. Former Mississippi Supreme Court Presiding Justice Kay B. Cobb passed on Friday, May 26, at her home in Lenoir City, Tennessee, at 81 years old. As of Saturday, May 27, a date has not been announced for a memorial service, which is still being planned. Cobb was the second woman to serve on the Mississippi Supreme Court, from 1999 to 2007. 3. Jackson Zoo seems to be turning a corner after a recent staff shortage and after failing USDA inspection. "We are fully staffed. Knock on something real quick," said Dep. Director David Wetzel. Since the Zoo was cited by the USDA for a shortage of employees, it's bounced back, with only three vacant positions as of May 28, according to Wetzel. (WAPT Jackson)
