Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:

  1. A man in West Jackson became a victim of gun violence after being shot while checking his mail. Jack Johnson, 69, was shot in the back when a flurry of at least four bullets was aimed at his home. The bullet remains in Johnson's back after doctors were unable to remove it. Councilman Kenneth Stokes has spoken out about the incident, saying that the suspect who was arrested for the shooting should be accountable for paying Johnson's hospital bill as well as any bills for the repair of his home. (WLBT)
  2. The Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson is hosting a new exhibit called "This is Home: Medgar Evers, Mississippi, and the Movement," which pays tribute to the influential civil rights activist Medgar Evers. The exhibit explores Evers' life, his contributions to the civil rights movement in Mississippi, and his tragic death. Visitors can see the exhibit until its closing date on Jun. 30, and many have expressed the importance of Evers' legacy and the ongoing need for progress in civil rights. More information can be found here. (WJTV)
  3. The driver of a stolen truck crashed the vehicle into a building on Saturday night at the Wood Glen Apartments. The Jackson Police Department is investigating the incident, and there were no injuries reported. Witnesses claim that an argument involving several people occurred just before the vehicle was taken.
