Help Shrewsbury, Help St. Louis: Sustainability Series Targets Local Problems
A local effort to improve sustainability in Shrewsbury and Mid-County is designed to one day affect all of the St. Louis region.
Shrewsbury is at the heart of an effort to revitalize mid-St. Louis County, and local experts are looking to residents to help identify and solve the region's most pressing problems.
The Mid-Metro 5 Community meetings—targeting Shrewsbury as well as Clayton, Richmond Heights, Brentwood and Maplewood—gather community input on sustainability and transportation issues, using mid-St. Louis County as a test for the rest of the region.
The next meeting July 17 in Clayton will address , including senior housing, flooding and public transit.

The sessions sponsored by the East-West Gateway Council of Governments are targeted at people who live, work or play in , , Maplewood, Brentwood and Shrewsbury, though anyone is welcome to attend.
The July 17 meeting runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in meeting rooms A and B at . Attendees will be asked how St. Louis should address the following issues:
- Creating more housing options for seniors
- Improving coordination between cities
- Addressing flooding and stormwater issues
- Improving access to public transit and pedestrian and biking options
