Julius Hunter Caps Off Black History Month Activities at Affton HS
Students spent the month learning about influential African Americans.
St. Louis native Julius Hunter visited Affton High School during Black History Month, according to a news release from the Affton School District.
Hunter spent 33 years of his career in network news from 1970 to 2002, and is best known as a KMOV anchor.
In his address, Hunter shared lhistorical facts about African Americans, and encouraged the students incorporate African American history throughout their entire curriculum.

Student and staff enjoyed a soul food meal following Hunterβs address.
The school's Social Studies Department designed a display case in honor of Black History Month. In addition, Affton High School staff read short biographies of influential African Americans during the daily announcements, including Dred Scott, George Washington Carver and Langston Hughes.
