Recently turned on the television to unwind. Immediately the screen filled with disturbing images of hungry people searching for food only to be greeted by empty store shelves.
The city streets were filled with people smashing windows and looting everything. There were no police to be seen and the anguished cries of the now bankrupt business owners went unheard by the mob.

Then some government figure wearing a silk suit came on the air. You could tell by the clothes he wore that his house, car and life were nothing like mine. With a flat tone and a fake smile, he said things were going well and that our despair was imaginary. Still, we the people need to consume less - less energy, less water and less food. That our meat should be replaced by crickets and other insects. That this was a transition period and we just needed to be more patient and understanding.
At first, thought it was one of the βHunger Gamesβ movies. Then a commercial break came on and informed me that I was watching the evening news.
