WGU Missouri Delivers Appreciation Kits to Area First Responders
The online, nonprofit university surprised more than 100 area first responders with hand-packed appreciation kits on Saturday night
In honor of Daylight Saving Time, WGU Missouri surprised 130 first responders at the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Departmentβs (SLMPD) Anti-Crime Task Force and SLMPD District 2 β which bravely responded to the recent school shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in South St. Louis City β with hand-packed appreciation kits on the evening of Nov. 5. The kits were delivered by WGU Missouri Communications Manager Anesia Estrada as a way to show gratitude for the first responders who had to work an extra hour when the clocks were set back this past weekend.
Each box was filled with a variety of snacks and beverages to help them stay fueled the extra hour, including hot chocolate and coffee pods, a bottle of Gatorade, can of Celsius energy drink, package of mini muffins and powdered doughnuts, Oreo minis, Ritz crackers, a bag of chips, granola bar and more. The fully online, nonprofit university also shared information about a new First Responders Scholarship open to EMTs, police officers, firefighters, corrections officers, dispatchers, and their immediate family members who are interested in completing their bachelorβs or masterβs degrees at WGU Missouri.
