Bus Carrying Deaf Children Overturns, Injures 18

Police say heavy rain in the area may have contributed to the wreck.

Children from the Missouri School of the Deaf in Fulton had a frightful experience Friday afternoon. The bus on which they were riding overturned near Interstate 70 in Montgomery County on Aug. 2.

Police said the bus was exiting Interstate 70 at the Danville exit when it crashed and overturned around 1:20 p.m, according to KMOV.

University Hospital officials said they received 18 patients from the crash including 15 students. They range in age between 10 and 18. Three adults were also injured. The hospital said all injuries were non-life threatening, according to police.

All three adults and ten students were released from the hospital Friday evening.

Police said the students just ended an extended summer school in Fulton and were on their way home on a charter bus.

Officials said students on the bus were from St. Louis, St. Charles, Arnold, Cape Girardeau and Sikeston, MO, according to KMOV.
